Each year, Alliance Medical Ministry (AMM) provides comprehensive healthcare to over 2000 working, uninsured adults in Wake County at little, to no, cost to patients. How do we do this? Through financial support from generous donors like you!
Did you know that AMM accepts various forms of financial gifts in addition to cash? Gifts of appreciated stocks, grants from Donor Advised Funds and Required Minimum Distributions from IRA’s are a few ways that you can support AMM, all while reducing annual tax burdens.
1. Giving Stocks or Appreciated Assets:
Donating stocks, bonds, or mutual funds that have appreciated over time can be significantly more tax-efficient than giving cash.
2. Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs):
If you are 70½ years old or older, you can give up to $100,000 per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as Alliance Medical Ministry, without having to treat the distribution as taxable income.
3. Grants from Donor Advised Funds (DAFs):
Donor Advised Funds are a popular charitable giving vehicle, allowing you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time. You can advise your DAF sponsor to allocate funds to Alliance Medical Ministry at a schedule that suits you, without any rush to decide how much to give at the end of the year.
4. Planned Gifts:
While estate planning, please consider including AMM in your estate through a gift from your will, designating AMM as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, establishing a Charitable Remainder Trust account or various other options.
Each of these methods offers advantages over traditional cash donations, and we hope one or more of these options makes supporting AMM a beneficial strategy for you and your family.
